Live Map is a page where you can view a Google Map track of your flight. This only works if you are using a client such as kACARS while flying. On the left side you will see a bar that is used for zooming in and out.
On the top right there is an option that reads “Map Satellite” and both words are clickable. The Map option will show you a relief map or road map view of the area you are flying in. This is a low bandwidth option and is much faster loading than the Satellite view. The Satellite view downloads Google Satellite maps and you have the option of placing road lines on top of this if you like.
The map does not move with your aircraft. You will have to scroll the map as you are flying.
On the bottom you will see the list of flights enroute or that have been completed within the last 12 hours. If you see your flight on here but you have finished it don’t worry. I have set the system to keep the flight up for 12 hours after completion so that others can see who has been flying in the last 12 hours and it may give you an idea of where to fly if you can’t decide or just give us something to chat about. That is, when I get the chat room up and running.
